After a quiet season, which has only seen the former European Caterham Champion and British GT race winner on track in a testing and coaching capacity, Ben is pleased to be pulling on the lid for his first competitive outing of 2010.

The REFLEX ( sponsored driver will be looking to make the most of his high fitness levels as he joins Nicholas Mee Racing for the Britcar 24hour race at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit next weekend. Having driven for the team in 2009 at Silverstone, where the team were close to a class win when a freak technical fault halted the car on track with just ten minutes of the 4 hour race left to run, Ben is looking forward to working with the team again.

"I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Having been out of the seat for most of the season I am keen to get the most out of the race and help the team maintain the success they have experienced so far. The team are relatively young in experience terms having only formed in 2008 but they seem to have gelled together very quickly having finished 3rd in class at their first 24hr race in Dubai earlier this year.”

With other commitments in the run up to the race Ben's first laps will be in Friday’s qualifying session.

"I’m not too worried about the lack of seat time before the event as it’s a very long race and it is more important to get into a steady rhythm rather than being flat out every lap like in the shorter race formats I been used to. Plus I have driven the NMR car a couple of times now and Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 is a relatively easy car to jump straight into."

It will be Ben’s second attempt at the race, having driven the Barwell Motorsport Honda Integra in 2008, so the experience should help with his mental preparation. His physical preparation should also be good having spent much of this season training hard.

"I have been training hard this year since I hadn’t got much planned in the race seat. Cycling and running have been my key focus alongside the usual hard sessions in the gym. I’ve done a few races in preparation for the New York Marathon in November and have the London ½ Marathon this weekend as a good warm up for the 24hour race.”

As usual Ben has been working with Reflex Nutrition to get the most out of his training and with their great range of sports supplements is currently at the peak of his physical fitness.

“Thanks to the guys at Reflex (, who have been supporting me for a number of years, now I am in as good a shape as I’ve ever been so the 24hr opportunity could not have come at a better time. Some of the Reflex products will also be ideal during the race to keep me alert and sharp.”
Qualifying is spread over two sessions on Friday 1st October with the race getting underway at 1630 on Saturday 2nd October.
