DE ZILLE BUTLER SIGNS WITH CHAD RACING FOR 2008 SEASON - 11/2/08

After a series of interesting offers for the 2008 season Ben has signed with CHAD Racing to contest the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in a Ferrari 430 GT3.

Ben will again be partnered by former sparing partner Guy Harrington, in what they hope will be their title clinching season in British GT. After an impressive rookie season in 2007, when they secured 2 wins and 8 podiums, the former Caterham champions are looking ahead to capitalise on their experiences and lift the crown at the end of 2008.

"With the 2007 team, Barwell Motorsport, taking the decision to move up to the ALMS series for 2008 it was going to be difficult to find a team that could offer the same strong package," said Ben." Fortunately over the winter a number of new teams made the decision to join the British GT grid for 2008 so i decided to speak with several of them to see what they could offer."

Since the cars to show good pace during the 2007 season were the Ferrari 430 & Lamborghini Gallardo Ben took the opportunity to test both of these before christmas, and with both cars impressing the decision would need to come down to the team rather than the car. "The mid-engined layout of both these cars makes them much easier to drive than the Aston Martin and although it is a shame not to be capitalising on the great relationship made with Barwell & Aston Martin in 2007 I think the Ferrari and Lamborghini will be the ones running at the front in 2008. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to work with Barwell again in the near future."

After lengthy negotiations with Team Modena (Lamborghini), CRScuderia (Ferrari) & CHAD (Ferrari) it came down to which team would best suit a combination of Ben's personality and budget. "Although the commercial opportunities were impressive with CRScuderia, the budget with CHAD makes better sense for me at the moment and I feel that Piers (Masarati - CHAD team manager) is focused on Guy and myself winning the title."

With less than six weeks to go until the first race at Oulton Park pre-season testing will be both intense and exciting as both Ben & Guy get used to a new car all over again. "I can't wait to get back behind the wheel," says Ben," the winter break has given me a good chance to spend some quality time with the family, and I am now looking forward to getting some mileage in the new car. We have a good pre season test schedule planned and hopefully by the time we arrive at Oulton Park we will be more than comfortable with the car."

The first tests will be later this week with some exclusive days in Spain at the beginning of March and other UK dates planned before the first race at Easter.

Commercial opportunities are still available with Ben & Guy for 2008. For further information please email ben@dezillebutlerracing.com
